- 01You can walk in — no appointment is needed for notarizations, certified true copies, affidavits, statutory declarations, or dropping off documents for translation at Document Genie in Edmonton. We run a walk-in counter throughout our opening hours, and most notary visits are finished in 10–15 minutes. Appointments are still worth booking in three situations: (1) apostille or authentication work, where we need to review the destination-country requirements with you; (2) fingerprinting, so the technician is ready; and (3) anything with a deadline, so you're seen the moment you arrive. Same-day appointments are almost always available. What happens when you walk in: You'll be greeted at the front desk, asked what the document is and where it's going, and the notary will check your ID and the document before anything is signed. If something is missing — a witness, an original, a page — we tell you before you pay, not after. How busy is it? Lunchtime and the last hour before closing are the busiest. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon are the quietest if you'd like to be in and out fast. Also answers: notary near me walk in Edmonton · same day notary Edmonton · notary public no appointment Edmonton south side · how long is the wait at a notary · can I book a notary online in Edmonton.Related pages: Notary Public Services · Commissioner for Oaths Services · Contact Us · Blog & GuidesDocument Genie Ltd. · Unit 18, 9186 34A Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5P4 · 587-501-2088 · oaths.ca · Book online: https://docugenie.as.me · Walk-ins welcome
- 02Document Genie is open Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Sunday: Closed. That gives you evening notary access four days a week and a full Saturday — unusual for a notary office in Edmonton, where most close at 4 or 5 PM and on weekends. We're also open on most statutory holidays (Labour Day, Thanksgiving, Family Day, etc.) with holiday hours posted on our Google Business Profile a week ahead.Last walk-in time: please arrive at least 20 minutes before closing for notarizations and 45 minutes before closing for translations or apostille intake, so we can complete the work properly. Also answers: notary open late Edmonton · notary open Saturday Edmonton · notary open on holidays Edmonton · Document Genie hours · translation office open weekends Edmonton.Related pages: Contact Us · Blog & GuidesDocument Genie Ltd. · Unit 18, 9186 34A Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5P4 · 587-501-2088 · oaths.ca · Book online: https://docugenie.as.me · Walk-ins welcome

- 04Most documents must be signed in the physical presence of the notary, so Document Genie provides in-person notarization at our Edmonton office; we do not offer general online or video notarization.Alberta permits remote commissioning in limited circumstances, but foreign governments, embassies, banks and land registries overseas almost universally reject remotely notarized documents. Because the majority of our clients' documents are going abroad — for apostille, immigration, property, marriage or employment — an in-person notarization is the safe route and the one we recommend. If you can't come to us: call 587-501-2088. Depending on the document and destination we can advise on options, and for hospital or care-home situations we can discuss a mobile visit within Edmonton. Also answers: online notary Alberta · video notarization Canada accepted abroad · mobile notary Edmonton · can I notarize over Zoom Alberta · remote commissioning Alberta.Related pages: Notary Public Services · Commissioner for Oaths ServicesDocument Genie Ltd. · Unit 18, 9186 34A Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5P4 · 587-501-2088 · oaths.ca · Book online: https://docugenie.as.me · Walk-ins welcome

- 06One piece of valid, original, government-issued photo ID is required for a standard notarization or certified copy; two pieces are required for real-estate documents, out-of-province or out-of-country documents, police clearances, common-law declarations, name-change affidavits and passport declarations — and acceptable ID means a passport, Canadian driver's licence, provincial photo ID card, or permanent resident card.An acceptable ID must: show your photo and resemble you now; show your given and last names; carry a unique identification number; be unexpired (or, if it has no expiry, issued within the last 5 years); and be issued by a government (Canadian federal, provincial/territorial, or a foreign government). Not accepted as primary ID: Alberta Health cards, birth certificates, citizenship certificates, SIN cards, student cards, or photocopies and phone photos of ID. Birth and citizenship certificates can still serve as your legal-name document where a form asks for one.Documents going abroad: bring your passport plus one more piece; if you hold a national ID card from your home country, bring it too — some foreign registries ask for it. If the document states your status in Canada (PR, citizen, work permit), bring proof of that status. Also answers: what ID do I need for a notary in Alberta · two pieces of ID notarization · is a health card valid ID for a notary · expired passport notary · PR card as ID notary Edmonton.Related pages: Notary Public Services · Commissioner for Oaths ServicesDocument Genie Ltd. · Unit 18, 9186 34A Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5P4 · 587-501-2088 · oaths.ca · Book online: https://docugenie.as.me · Walk-ins welcome
- 07Your legal name in Canada is the full name — first, all middle names and last name — shown on the immigration document under which you were admitted to Canada (your confirmation of permanent residence, PR card, work or study permit, or citizenship certificate), and Canadian registries, IRCC and Service Canada match every other document against that.If your birth certificate, passport, degree or marriage certificate spells your name differently, the fix is a multiple-name (one-and-the-same-person) affidavit sworn before our notary, not a change to the documents. See the multiple-name affidavit entry under Immigration, Passport & IRCC Documents. Also answers: legal name immigration document Canada · name on PR card vs passport different · which name to use on Canadian forms · name discrepancy Canada immigration.Related pages: Notary Public Services · No Name on Birth Certificate for IRCCDocument Genie Ltd. · Unit 18, 9186 34A Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5P4 · 587-501-2088 · oaths.ca · Book online: https://docugenie.as.me · Walk-ins welcome
- 08It depends on the service: anyone can drop off or pick up documents for translation, certified copies (with your originals) or apostille processing on your behalf, but anything that requires your signature or oath — a notarization, affidavit, statutory declaration, power of attorney, consent letter — requires you to attend in person with your ID; no one can sign for you.Can be done by someone else: dropping off originals for certified true copies; submitting or collecting translations; delivering documents for apostille; collecting finished work (we may ask for your authorization by email).Must be you, in person: every signature witnessed by the notary, every oath or declaration, and any document in which the notary certifies your identity. Also answers: can my wife notarize on my behalf · can someone pick up my documents Document Genie · proxy signing notary Alberta · drop off documents for translation on behalf.Related pages: Notary Public Services · Certified Translation ServicesDocument Genie Ltd. · Unit 18, 9186 34A Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5P4 · 587-501-2088 · oaths.ca · Book online: https://docugenie.as.me · Walk-ins welcome
- 09We arrange independent witnesses on request — tell us when you book — and while there is no blanket law banning relatives as witnesses, direct relatives (spouse, parent, child, sibling) and anyone who benefits from the document should not act as witnesses, because courts, foreign registries and banks routinely reject documents witnessed by interested parties; friends, colleagues or our arranged witnesses are the safe choice.A witness must: be 18 or older, mentally capable, unrelated to the signer and not named in the document, and bring valid government photo ID. For wills, a witness must not be a beneficiary or a beneficiary's spouse (Alberta's Wills and Succession Act). Also answers: notary witness service Edmonton · can my husband witness my document · who can witness a document in Alberta · witness requirements affidavit Alberta · bring my own witness notary.Related pages: Notary Public Services · Commissioner for Oaths ServicesDocument Genie Ltd. · Unit 18, 9186 34A Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 5P4 · 587-501-2088 · oaths.ca · Book online: https://docugenie.as.me · Walk-ins welcome
