We strongly recommend that Canadian children carry a consent letter if they are traveling abroad alone, with only one parent/guardian, with friends or relatives or with a group. For the purposes of this consent letter, a Canadian child is defined as anyone who is under the age of majority (18 or 19, depending on the province or territory of residence). We encourage you to use an interactive form to write a consent letter that fits your specific situation. You can save information entered in this form. However, this data is not collected or stored by Global Affairs Canada. Click on the following link to create a personalized consent letter:

The Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union Form Number IMM5409e is typically used in spousal sponsorship applications where the applicants are not married. A common-law couple must have lived together for at least one year, and also have intermingled financial or other affairs.

This form is required as part of the application and requires the couple to swear (or affirm) that they are in fact a common-law couple. However, you should not include only this form as evidence of your common-law status. You should include as many pieces of evidence as you can to show that you are in a committed, marriage-like relationship.

We provide Criminal Record Checks (result of a name and date of birth based criminal check) to meet your every need. The process involves a check of the Canadian Police Information Center Database. The CPIC database is a compilation of police information and court decisions. The applicant's name and date of birth are used to search against the database of convictions, the result of which can be found on the genuine Certificate we provide. Our Certificates have been used extensively to help our clients gain employment, meet property rental requirements, successfully immigrate to the United States, and much more. Call us and find how we can help you today.

A custodian is a responsible adult, who is a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, who will take care of and support the minor child. A custodian is optional for minors 17 years of age and older, but an officer can request one on a case-by-case basis.

To appoint a custodian, send CIC the Custodianship Declaration form along with the minor child’s study permit application.

The two pages of the form look similar, but:

the first page needs to be signed by the custodian and notarized (certified by a lawyer or notary) in Canada (Our Notary can provide that service to you)

the second page needs to be signed by the parents or legal guardians of the minor child and notarized in their home country

The CRA administers legislation, commonly called the taxpayer relief provisions, that allows the CRA discretion to cancel or waive penalties or interest when taxpayers cannot meet their tax obligations due to circumstances beyond their control.

The CRA's discretion to grant relief is limited to any period that ended within 10 calendar years before the year in which a request is made.

To make a request, fill out Form RC4288, Request for Taxpayer Relief – Cancel or Waive Penalties or Interest. For more information about relief from penalties or interest and how to submit your request, go to Taxpayer relief provisions.

Form RC4288, Request for Taxpayer Relief, must be sent to a Canada Revenue Agency Tax Centre, and the exact tax services office depends on where the taxpayer resides.
